Sorry guys, no new PPC board (for now). |

I guess the title pretty much sums it up. There were a couple of meetings this week reg. possible investment on this platform - actually the first was with a customer who owes me a substantial amount of money, which I intended to use on the board design/production, but who refused to pay and we will probably go the legal route and it will take probably years until a result comes out. The second meeting was with an investor, a personal acquaitance about funding the board. The number of emails I received was very small and disappointing, esp. since I expected at least 3 times as many. The investor understands that there is actually a market, which might be profitable given the right product, but he saw me sceptical about spending money on it, so why should he risk his money esp. in this time period? So, we decided to call the thing off, at least for now.

On the other hand he was more interested in an ARM based product...

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, it was really appreciated, but perhaps it's time to move on. Actually, I just thought of an idea, there is another way that we might build a nice ppc board, but I think it will find even less interest: open-source hardware, donation based. Say, we do a bounty -or what even its legal term is- and each of us, donates an amount, until we reach the desirable amount. If we could get 500 people to donate 100e each -or more in some cases- we might reach the goal to design the board. Since the board design would be open, anyone could then produce it. If the goal is not reached in a specific amount of time, everyone gets their money back -or we leave it open until the money is raised. So, what say you all? It's the last thing that can be done I think. So, if you are really interested in the idea, please say so, if enough people second this, I'm sure something could be arranged.
